Timeshares That Allow Dogs

It is important to pet owners to be able to enjoy their vacation with their dogs and without the extra expense and inconvenience of boarding them. Unfortunately, it is not easy to find timeshares that allow dogs, because most do not. However, a handful of timeshares throughout the United States and Canada do allow dogs. Note that pet-friendly timeshares usually permit only small dogs, so be sure to ask before buying or exchanging vacations.

East Coast Timeshares
- Vacation Village in the Berkshires (Hancock, Massachusetts) allows dogs under 35 lbs. in certain rooms for a fee. This area is popular for Jiminy Peak Ski Resort, Tanglewood (the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra) and the famous Norman Rockwell Museum.
  
  Both The Lucayan and The Waves in Ocean City, Maryland are pet-friendly timeshares that encourage you to call for their current pet policy. Pets are usually allowed for a fee.
West Coast Timeshares
- The Plaza Resort and Spa in Palm Springs, California allows dogs for a fee, which is based on what type of room you select. This timeshare is close to Los Angeles.
  
  Kala Point Village in Point Townsend, Washington allows up to two dogs for a nominal fee per pet. The resort is on 370 wooded acres and a private beach on Port Townsend Bay. Port Townsend is known for its Victorian architecture and scenic views.
Rocky Mountain Time Shares
- Many people like to enjoy hikes with their pets while on vacation.
  
  The Inn at Silver Creek in Granby, Colorado is one pet-friendly timeshare that does not put a weight limit on its canine guests. Here you can enjoy seasonal ice skating, snowmobiling, and skiing. Summer activities, like hiking, swimming and fishing are also available.
  
  Situated in Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada, Banff Rocky Mountain Resort allows small pets for a fee of $20(CDN)/day (maximum of $60/week) at the time of this writing. This timeshare is for nature enthusiasts who do not mind smaller accommodations.
Timeshares in the Southwest
- Rancho Ruidoso Condominiums in Alto, New Mexico is one timeshare that allows dogs. Located in Lincoln National Forest, people come from all over for the natural beauty, hiking, skiing (seasonal) and horse racing (May to September).
  
  Silverleaf's Hill Country Resort in Canyon Lake, Texas has a limited number of pet-friendly rooms. Many people pick this resort, located between Austin and San Antonio, for its proximity to the Guadalupe River for boating, fishing and tubing opportunities.
Houseboat Timeshares
- Houseboat timeshares give you the unique opportunity to enjoy a cruise at your own pace.
  
  If you rent a houseboat from Holly Bluff Marina in Deland, Florida, up to two dogs under 35 lbs. can join you as you cruise the St. John's River and enjoy seeing alligators, manatees, herons, egrets and other wildlife. At the time of publication, the pet fee was $15.
  
  Another houseboat timeshare option is from Grand Lakefront Resort Club in Stigler, Oklahoma. At the time of this writing, they were charging a $100 fee and allowing pets up to 20 lbs.
