Fishing Cabins in Northern Wisconsin

Although Minnesota tends to get the credit when it comes to having an abundance of lakes, northern Wisconsin has more than 2,500 lakes, ranging in size from small watering holes to the largest of them all, Lake Superior. This area of the state also happens to be largely unpopulated, leaving plenty of room for secluded, lakeside cabins where fisherman can practice their sport undisturbed.

  1. Lazy Moose Cabin

    • The Lazy Moose Cabin can be found in one of the most solitary spots in the Midwest, the heart of the undisturbed Chequamegon National Forest. This preserved area is located a little more than an hour from the southern point of Lake Superior, and the cabin itself has a private dock on Moose Lake. The accommodations include two bedrooms and a full-size kitchen, as well as satellite TV and washer and dryer facilities. The closest town is Hayward, where the oldest bait and tackle shop in Wisconsin, Pastika's Sport Shop, resides. Fishermen can stock up there with supplies to help them catch the wealth of musky, walleye and small-mouth bass found in the lake.

    Delta Lodge

    • The Delta Lodge, made up of a series of rental cabins, is located on the shores of Lake Everett in northern Wisconsin, about an hour from the northern Minnesota city of Duluth. Of the 10 cabins available, the size ranges from one to four bedrooms, each with its own porch and screen door. Fishing is one of the main attractions in the area, and Lake Everett is popular both in the summer and winter, when the ice-fishers come out. Catches include giant bass, walleye and Wisconsin trout. Also nearby is the White River, where fishermen can find both salmon and trout.

    Cabin On the Creek

    • The accommodation known as Cabin On the Creek is located in Fremont, in the center of northern Wisconsin, about half an hour's drive from Lake Oshkosh. The cabin is located along the Wolf River between Lake Poygan and Partridge Lake. Though the exterior of the cabin is typically rustic, the inside is equipped with central air, washer and dryer and accommodations for 12 people. Because of the location, fishermen have access to a range of river fish, lake fish and even small creek fish at the nearby Alder Creek, including northern pike, walleye and bass.
