Log Cabins in Longview, Tex.

Longview, Tex., is known for its southern hospitality and its festivals. It is a small town but the residents welcome visitors with open arms by providing shopping, dining and an array of entertainment. The festivals and annual events include the Great Texas Balloon Race, Party in the Pines Motorcycle rally and the Freeze Your Fanny Bike Ride. Some people visit Longview to see its landmark clock tower which is downtown on Main Street. Whatever the reasons for the visit, many tourists choose to stay in log cabin resorts which dot the area.

  1. The Old Parker Place

    • The Old Parker Place is an estate that comes complete with a log cabin and is about 15 minutes from Longview. This house and cabin is available to use for events and ceremonies such as weddings. The grounds, house and cabin are decorated in an old rustic style and the whole place is in a secluded area giving users complete privacy. The log cabin comes with a brickwork fireplace and vaulted ceilings, while the main house contains a grand room for dining or indoor gatherings, a game room and a large garden that makes up the remainder of the 31/2 acres of land that is the Old Parker Place.

    Whispering Pines RV & Cabin Resort

    • This resort is in Tyler which is about 40 minutes from Longview. The park is 47 acres with most of it woodlands. Whispering Pines caters for RVs and has cabins for those travelers that don’t own an RV. The log style cabins have recently been renovated and maintain a country feel with the interior of the cabins decorated in wood. All cabins have air conditioning and heating, bathrooms and a kitchen. Cabins can sleep 2 to 8 people and a couple have wheelchair access. Whispering Pines also has a pool with a poolside café that is open on the weekends, a convenience store, and facilities for tennis, volleyball, basketball, ping pong and mini golf.

    Caddo Lake State Park

    • This state park provides log cabins that are half a mile from the waterfront; there is a boat launch for people with their own boat. The cabins come in different sizes from ones that sleep 2 people to cabins that sleep 6 people. All have air conditioning and heating, bathroom with hot water, a picnic table outside and a BBQ grill. In the two person cabin there is no refrigerator, stove or fireplace. The four and six person cabins have all of these amenities as well as a microwave. In the park itself there are restrooms, hiking trails and nature trails as well as a playground for the children.
