If you’re gay, you may want to spend time at resorts that are geared toward the Community. Certain resorts and campgrounds are focused to appeal to gay people where you can hang out with like-minded people.
You can find Community resorts in Texas by doing a simple Internet search. This hotel is geared towards adults, so you have to be 18 or older, and you have to be at least 21 to enter the bar.Rainbow Ranch1662 LCR Groesback, TX 76642888-875-7596Fax 563-405-7503Rainbow Ranch boasts that it is the quintessential Gay and Lesbian campground in Central Texas. It is just a few miles outside Groesbeck, and it is “By the Community for the Community.” Rainbow Ranch offers the typical camping experience but offers a comfortable atmosphere. They also sponsor events at their campground. Reservations with deposits are required. Their site even includes a regular newsletter.Lovett Inn501 Lovett Boulevard, Houston, TX 77006713-528-6433The Lovett Inn is not a resort, but it is a twelve-room posh bed and breakfast that is gay-friendly. They offer wedding services that cater to gay couples.Gay Outdoors gives you the opportunity to search for Community owned campgrounds and outdoor activities. You can search for countries and US regions and particular activities that you think would be fun. I did a ctrl-F and looked for Texas. Two organizations popped up. They also events for the Community. Gay Outdoor Club-Dallas 16500 Lauder Lane18103Dallas, TX 75248United StatesPhone: (469) 387-2530 The Gay Outdoor Club-Dallas is an organization, not a resort, but they organize outdoor activities. The club does not collect dues. Activities include camping, backpacking, kayaking, and climbing. Other activities include diving and skiing. Gay Houseboat VacationsLake Travis - Austin, TXSteve & Steve 512.789.7133 e-mail [email protected] Houseboat Vacations is located in Austin and gives you the opportunity to relax on lake Travis in your own houseboat. You can travel alone on your boat or you can stop by Hippie Hollow, the clothing-optional beach. Houseboat Vacations provides off-season rates effective in October. If you’re on a budget, you can choose to go with the pontoon boat instead of the houseboat.
When you pick the hotel or campground that you want to visit, call for a reservation. The clerk will give you rates for the particular accommodation you are looking for.
Plan your trip and make sure you have everything ready for the time you will be out of town. Board the pets and have the mail stopped.
If you’re traveling in the off-season, call and see if the resort or hotel you are traveling to offers discount rates. For instance, the houseboat tours offer special rates starting in October.
