Resorts in Virginia Near Shenandoah Park

Shenandoah National Park provides opportunities for hiking in the Blue Ridge Mountains and canoeing in the Shenandoah River in western Virginia. This area's recreation activities are within 30 minutes of resorts in the state's Shenandoah Valley region. Many of Shenandoah's resorts provide complimentary boating and bicycling rentals. Also, these resorts have guest room or cottage accommodations with scenic views of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
  1. Water Park

    • The Massanutten Resort in McGaheysville is a 30-minute drive west of Shenandoah National Forest. This resort features an on-site water park with indoor rides -- Blue Ridge Rapids lazy river ride and the Massanutten Meltdown, a treehouse structure with water cannons and slides -- and outdoor rides -- White Caps wave pool and the Rockingham Racer speed slide. On-site dining is available at the casual Blue Ridge Buffet and Fareways, which offers a fine dining atmosphere. Shopping opportunities nearby include the boutique Shoppe Five and The Market, the resort's convenience store. During the winter, Massanutten offers 14 trails for skiing and snowboarding.

    Golf

    • Located in New Market, the Shenvalee Golf Resort is in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley area. This golf resort provides three nine-hole courses; the oldest is the "Olde Course," which opened in the 1920s. Other golf facilities include a golf pro shop, driving range, putting green and the 19th hole eatery, the Shenvalee Sports Lounge. The Shenvalee Restaurant is resort's full-service restaurant, which serves American cuisine in a casual setting. Accommodations include 42 motel-style guest rooms; some have private balconies overlooking the golf course.

    Forest & Mountain Views

    • The Montfair Resort Farm is in Crozet, Virginia, approximately 25 minutes east of Shenandoah National Park. This 129-acre resort provides six cottage rentals in a forested setting or with views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. All the cottages are secluded from each another and feature kitchens, living rooms and private porches. Montfair was founded as a resort in the 1960s in an area that was once farmland. The resort has an on-site lake for fishing and trails for hiking and bicycling; canoe and bicycle rentals are available from the resort's office.

    RVs & Tents

    • The Country Waye RV Resort in Luray is within 15 minutes of Shenandoah National Park. This resort provides RV campsites with hook-ups for water, electricity and sewage; primitive tent campsites are also available. Nightly, weekly and monthly rates are available, and the resort is open year-round. Country Waye amenities include shower facilities, an outdoor swimming pool and a picnicking area with tables and grills. The swimming pool is open only during the summer. An on-site convenience store offers groceries and RV supplies. The resort is a 10-minute drive from Luray Caverns, which offers guided spelunking tours.
