About 15 miles south of Dahlgren, Harbor View Park Campground sits near Colonial Beach on the Chesapeake Bay. It is open year round, and offers 144 sites, all with full hookups. Aquia Pines Camp Resort lies 30 miles north of Dahlgren, in a wooded area near Stafford, Virginia. It is open throughout the year, and has 120 sites, 65 with full hookups and 105 with electricity and water. Amenities include cable TV and Internet service, showers, laundry and a store. It also has basketball courts, mini-golf and an outdoor pool. History buffs can explore historic Civil War battlefields nearby in Fredericksburg. Pets are welcome.
