The cabins were built in the era of the Great Depression and offer a rustic lifestyle. Cabins include a kitchen room and two sleeping rooms. Fireplaces are also offered and firewood can be attained on-site. The kitchens come equipped with a gas stove, refrigerator, cabinets, a table, six chairs, two lounge chairs and cooking utensils. The sleeping rooms and main cabin offer sleeping room for up to 10 people.
The cabins are located on a half-acre of grassy opening and are located close to many hiking trails for ascent up the mountain. It's also located near many red spruce and yellow birch trees. A river runs nearby as well. Guests are advised to protect any food they prepare in the cabin as bears are frequent visitors to the area. To minimize unsafe weather conditions, the cabins are only rented from April 1 through December 9.
The Middle Mountain campground cabins don't include the modern amenities that people enjoy today. In fact, there's no electricity or running water inside the cabin. An outside hand-pump to obtain drinking water is available on-site. A pit toilet is also located on-site for use. US-Parks.com advises guests to bring matches, an ax, saw, bedding, lanterns, flashlights, food and ice chests.
