Accommodations on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon

Located just 11 miles apart by air but 215 miles by car, the North and South rims of the Grand Canyon are much different. The North Rim is less developed and more rustic than the South Rim. As a consequence, there is a limited selection of lodging accommodations in the region. Vacationers looking for more lodging choices and amenities will need to drive to the town of Fredonia, located 77 miles from the official entrance to the national park.
  1. Grand Canyon Lodge Western Cabins

    • The Grand Canyon Lodge is the only lodging available inside the North Rim's park boundaries. This designated national landmark is located at Bright Angel Point, and is managed by Forever Resorts. The Western Cabins are in a pine-forest setting. They can sleep up to four people and feature a cozy front porch, two queen beds and some cabins also have handicapped-accessible features. Guests have a choice of standard views or views of the North Rim.

    Grand Canyon Lodge Frontier Cabins

    • Up to three people can sleep in the Frontier Cabins, which are also part of the Grand Canyon Lodge and feature one double bed and one single bed. Two cabins have handicapped-accessible features and all come with standard views. As of September 2010, rates start at $118 per night. There are four different dining establishments on the property for cabin guests to choose from, in addition to a regular evening cookout offered June through September.

    Grand Canyon Lodge Pioneer Cabins

    • These newly remodeled accommodations on Grand Canyon Lodge property feature two separate bedrooms, a three-quarter bath with shower, small refrigerator and coffee pot. In-room telephones are also available. Up to six people can sleep in these cabins while enjoying a standard view or view of the North Rim. The Lodge also features coin-operated laundry facilities for guests.

    Grand Canyon Lodge Motel Rooms

    • As the cheapest accommodations on the North Rim, these basic Grand Canyon Lodge motel rooms can sleep up to three people with the addition of a rollaway bed for an extra charge. Room amenities include one queen bed, one bathroom and a standard view. As of September 2010, rates start at $113 per night. Guests are encourage to take advantage of mule rides, hiking trails and interpretive programs offered by national park concessionaires.

    Kaibab Camper Village

    • RVers and tent campers who want to stay near the North Rim will find Kaibab Camper Village to be the closest private RV park in the region. This pet-friendly seasonal campground is located just outside the park boundaries and one mile from the Grand Canyon Lodge. Guests can choose from full-hookup campsites or dry camping sites without facilities, all of which surround rustic Jacob Lake. Campground amenities include restrooms with showers, coin-operated laundry facilities, fire pits and picnic tables. Nearby, the U.S. Forest Service offers interpretive programs and there are hiking trails in the vicinity. Kaibab Camper Village is open between May 14 and October 15.
