The Grand Canyon is one of nature's most unforgettable sights, and viewing the Canyon from its isolated North Rim is well worth the drive. Most visitors to the Grand Canyon spend their time at the more easily-accessible South Rim, so North Rim viewpoints are much less crowded. There are three developed viewpoints on the North Rim: Bright Angel Point, Point Imperial and Cape Royal; all provide unique and wonderful views of the Canyon's expanse and depth. Lodging choices are more limited on the North Rim, so plan your trip as far ahead as possible.
The Grand Canyon Lodge -- North Rim is the only lodging available within the Grant Canyon National Park boundaries on the North Rim of the Canyon. Guests can choose from three types of cabins, all located on the rim, or stay in the motel, which is within walking distance of the rim. Frontier cabins accommodate up to three guests with one double and one single bed, and a three-quarter bath. Western cabins sleep up to four guests, with two queen beds and a full bath. Pioneer cabins accommodate up to six in two bedrooms and a three-quarter bath. Motel rooms sleep up to three guests with a queen bed and full bath. The Grand Canyon Lodge recommends that guests make reservations at least 13 months in advance.

Kaibab Lodge is located five miles from the Grand Canyon National Park's North Rim entrance, and 18 miles from the North Rim itself. Situated in the trees of the North Kaibab National Forest, Kaibab Lodge offers a quiet retreat. Relax in front of the stone fireplace in the main lodge, or enjoy a meal at the Kaibab Lodge Restaurant. Rooms are located in rustic cabins, most with private baths. Television and pay phones are available in the main lodge. As of March 2010, Kaibab Lodge is open from mid-May through November 2.

Jacob Lake Inn is located 44 miles from Grand Canyon National Park's North Rim. The Inn is also within driving distance of other regional attractions, such as Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon National Park and Lake Powell. Other nearby activities include hiking, biking (bike rental available), bird watching, hunting and fishing. Guests can choose to stay in one- or two-room cabins that sleep up to six. Each cabin has a private shower and deck. Motel rooms are also available; some with cable television, phones and Internet access. Jacob Lake Inn also has a full-service restaurant, bakery, gift shop, country store and a service station.
