Uninstall the dock’s ladder, legs and any other attachments. Some docks have raising legs, and if this is the case simply raise the legs up.
Disconnect the anchor from the dock and tie a rope around its loose chains. Secure the other end of the rope around a tree, or to some other stable object on land so you don’t lose the end of your anchor.
Lay wooden planks along the shore, in line with the dock. The planks will prevent the dock’s floats from being damaged on rocks or rough terrain.
Attach the winch’s tow hook to the end of the dock and then use the winch remote control to lift the dock out of the water and onto the laid-out planks. Stand clear of the dock as it moves up onto the planks.
Stop the winch when the dock is in the desired position on land. Use a rope to tie the dock to a secure object on land so it doesn’t slide back into the water.
