Lowerpro X100 vs. Lowerpro X200

The Lowerpro x100 and the Lowerpro x200 -- officially known as the Pro Roller x100 and the Pro Roller x200, respectively -- are rolling cases from California-based bag and case manufacturer Lowerpro. As members of the Pro Roller x-Series, the items share basic similarities. The x200, however, is a bigger, heavier and more expensive offering than the x100.

    • Each Lowerpro x100 and Lowerpro x200 is made of 1680-denier ballistic nylon on the outside; and uses 210-denier nylon, PE foam and a type of warp knitting called tricot for its interior fabric. The bags are designed for providing a combination of electronic device accommodation, security with Travel Sentry Inc.'s TSA LOCK 3-digit combination system, aesthetic refinement and aircraft overhead compartment compatibility. The wheels of each Pro Roller x100 and x200 can be removed or replaced using an Allen wrench.

    Interior Size

    • The interior of the Lowerpro x100 has a width of 11.4 inches, or 29 mm; a depth of 6.6 inches, or 16.8 cm; and a height of 15.7 inches, or 40 cm. The Lowerpro x200 has the same depth as the x100. However, it has a width of 12.2 inches, or 31 cm; and a height of 19.8 inches, or 50.5 cm. Included in the interior space are notebook personal computer compartment dimensions of 12 by 1.1 by 15.3 inches, or 30.5 by 3 by 39 cm, for the x100; and 12.7 by 1.1 by 18.1 inches, or 32.5 by 3 by 46 cm, for the x200.

    Exterior Size

    • The Lowerpro x100 and the Lowerpro x200 have the same exterior depth of 11.2 inches, or 28.5 cm. However, the Pro Roller x100 has a width of 14 inches, or 35.5 cm; and height of 20 inches, or 51 cm. The Pro Roller x200 has a width of 15.7 inches, or 40 cm, and height of 24.2 inches, or 61.5 cm.

    Carrying Capacity, Color and Pricing

    • The Lowerpro x100 and the Lowerpro x200 are capable of carrying up to two digital single-lens reflex cameras and a notebook PC. However, while the x100 can hold up to six DSLR lenses and a notebook of up to 14 inches in size, the x200 can carry up to eight lenses and a notebook as big as 15.4 inches. Available only in black, the x100 and the x200 have manufacturer's suggested retail prices of $400 and $450, respectively, at the time of publication.
