Kake, AK Hotels

Kake, Alaska, is in the southern part of the state, on Kupreanof Island, south of Juneau and approximately 50 miles west of the border between Alaska and British Columbia. There are no accommodations in Kake, but on the next island, called Mitkof Island, the town of Petersburg has various accommodations for travelers and visitors.

    • Scandia House is a hotel in downtown Petersburg with 33 guest rooms. Scandia provides car and boat rentals to visitors who wish to explore the surrounding areas. The cars are equipped to deal with the rough terrain on the island, and the boats are 18-foot Lund Alaskan fishing boats. Rooms are equipped with color televisions that have premium cable and HBO, private baths and phones with free local calls. The staff provides fresh muffins with juice, coffee and tea in the morning. Scandia House also provides visitors with courtesy airport and ferry terminal transportation.

    Tides Inn

    • Tides Inn is a hotel in Petersburg with a view of North Harbor. Amenities for guests include free email access, continental breakfast, airport and ferry transport and color television. The hotel has 45 guest rooms, and dogs are welcome as long as the guest is willing to pay a refundable deposit. Tides Inn has a banquet facility that seats a maximum of 60 people. "Gourmet Alaskan catering" is available with pre-arrangement, according to the Tides Inn website. Nearby restaurants include Costal Cold Storage Seafood Deli, Northern Lights Restaurant and Papa Bear's Pizza.

    Beachcomber Inn

    • The Beachcomber Inn has 13 one-bedroom apartments. The inn is three miles south of downtown Petersburg, on the waterfront of Wrangell Narrows. The inn is on the water with a dock and float, so it is accessible by boat. This remote accommodation used to be a salmon cannery. Guests enjoy private baths and private kitchens, but there are no phones and no disabled access. Visitors must stay for a minimum of one week. No children are allowed at the Beachcomber Inn.

    Cottrell's Sugar Shack Cabin

    • Cottrell's Sugar Shack Cabin is 10 miles from downtown Petersburg. The cabin is available for private renters and is located along Wrangell Narrows. The cabin features a living room, two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a kitchen. One of the bathrooms has a Jacuzzi while the other has a shower. Cottrell's does not allow smoking, children or pets in the cabin, and guests must stay at least three nights. The cabin comes equipped with a phone that will make local calls, and an outdoor grill.
