How to Clean a Camping Trailer

Camping trailers can be a lot of fun for those who enjoy getting out and enjoying the outdoors. Trailers offer warmth and comfort to campers who would rather not brave harsh winter weather or prefer sleeping in a bed and not on the ground. Cleaning a trailer takes time, but it can be done efficiently if you have an appropriate plan. Make it a fun event if the camping trailer is used and enjoyed by the entire family.

Things You'll Need

  • Soapy water
  • Clean cloth
  • Mop 'n Glo
  • White vinegar
  • Baking soda
  • Vacuum cleaner

Instructions

    • 1

Clean the camping trailer throughout the year. Wash the camper shell with a mild detergent and warm water. Abrasive cleaners may cause damage to camper shells. Clean the caps and openings on top of campers every four to six weeks with a damp cloth to avoid dirt buildup. Use a brush to sweep away dirt and debris on the canvas. Dirt left on the canvas may eventually turn into mold and mildew.

Wipe off dirt from shoes before entering a camping trailer. Vacuum the carpet often. Wipe linoleum and wood floors with a damp cloth to remove dirt and stains. For tough stains, use a mild cleaner such as Mop 'n Glo. Rinse thoroughly to prevent soap from drying. Refrain from using harsh bristles on the floor that may scratch or cause dents.

Clean the kitchen area with a warm, soapy cloth. Wipe down cabinets, sinks, faucets, drawers and other appliances. Remove the stovetop plates and wipe away all spills and crumbs to help deter bugs and rodents. Soak the aluminum wire filter above the stovetop in warm, soapy water to prevent a greasy buildup. Clean out the refrigerators regularly and remove all old or uneaten food.

Vacuum window sills and cloth blinds frequently to remove dust. Use a damp cloth to wipe metal blinds and the remaining dust or dirt around the window. Metal blinds may also be removed and sprayed with a mild cleaner or soaked in a tub of warm water at home. Various stores may sell a hand-held cloth made to clean blinds.

Wipe down toilet seats and the lids with a disinfectant cloth. Clean faucets and sinks with a mixture of white vinegar and baking soda instead of abrasive bathroom cleaners. This mixture may also be used to clean accordion showers. Remove fabric or plastic shower curtains and wash as needed. Throw away shower curtains that are moldy or covered in mildew.
