Townsend, Tennessee, is home to a handful of lower-priced cabin accommodations in the Smoky Mountains National Park. Townsend is adjacent to Cades Cove and bills itself as "the peaceful side of the Smokies." Area cabins ranged from about $55 to $170 in September 2010.
They provide refuge from the glittering shows and busy tourist attractions of places like Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, but Townsend is less than 40 minutes from either if you decide to venture in their direction.
Top of Townsend Cabins have nine units of varying sizes. The prices run from $95 to $125 per night with some discounts for multiple-night stays. Each cabin is different and has its own private setting. Likewise, each cabin has its own name, including White Pines, Rachel's Roost, Hailey's Hideaway and Way Up Yonder. Prices will not be discounted during holidays and October of each year.

Each of Timberwinds' cabins is named and off the beaten path. Prices range from $75 to $170 per night, depending on the size of the cabin. Most of the larger cabins have two to four bedrooms and include a full-service kitchen, whirlpool, outdoor deck hot tub and pool table. Online photos and reservations are available. A two-night minimum is imposed. Cabins are secluded and have names such as Victorian Rhapsody, Heaven's Gate, Rocky Top and Angel's Hideaway.

Nestled on 2,000 acres, the Tremont Camp Resort offers cabins set on a terraced hillside. Prices range from $55 for a no-frills 'camping cabin' to about $120 for one of the log houses. While the Tremont website offers prices and rates, reservations must be made over the telephone. All prices are based on a two-person occupancy. An extra $5 to $10 will be added per extra person on each night of the stay.

The Wright Cabins have names such as Mama's Cabin, Moose Creek and Mountain Shadow. One larger cabin called River Queen is directly on the river, where private tubing can be enjoyed. The property has a total of nine cabins available on secluded, separate locations. Prices range from $85 to $125 per night for two people. Extra charges for additional people will apply. Reservations can be requested via email, but calling is recommended.
