RV Camping Near the Navy Base in Panama City, Florida

Naval Support Activity Panama City covers more than 650 acres along the shores of St. Andrews Bay in Panama City Beach, Florida. The mission of this sprawling U.S. Navy installation is “to enable and sustain U.S. warfighter readiness.” St. Andrews Bay, which lies near the midpoint of the Florida Panhandle, offers easy access to the Gulf of Mexico. With 27 miles of white sand beaches, Panama City Beach attracts hordes of vacationers year-round, but most notably during Spring Break. RVers visiting a family member or friend stationed at the Navy base can park their rigs at one of four year-round campgrounds within a 5-mile radius.
  1. Emerald Coast RV Beach Resort

    • Less than 3 miles northwest of the Navy base, 25-acre Emerald Coast RV Beach Resort has more than 150 RV sites with full hookups, including 75-channel cable TV. If you don’t have an RV, you can rent one of the park models, all of which are fully equipped. All sites feature concrete patio areas, and the roads throughout the resort are paved. Campers have access to a wide array of facilities and services, including a clubhouse with full kitchen facilities, a saltwater pool with a waterfall, hot tub, bathhouses with hot showers and restrooms, a dog run, camp store, two large ponds, sports courts and a soccer field. Also available are dump stations and a propane filling station. The resort, which caters exclusively to RVs, is less than a mile from the nearest Gulf beach access.

    Panama City Beach RV Resort

    • Panama City Beach RV Resort is 3 miles south of the Navy base and just a short walk from the beach. Also nearby is the entrance to St. Andrews State Park. The resort’s 69 RV sites have full hookups, including cable TV and free Wi-Fi. Fourteen sites are pull-throughs, which can easily accommodate larger rigs. In addition to its RV campsites, the resort has a number of studio and one-bedroom condo units for rent. Amenities at the gated resort include a heated outdoor swimming pool, patio and sundeck, exercise room, coin laundry, restrooms, showers and a dump station. Pets are welcome.

    St. Andrews State Park

    • Once a military reservation, today St. Andrews State Park is a popular outdoor recreational destination for both locals and tourists. The park, 3.6 miles southeast of the Navy base, has a mile and a half of beaches on the Gulf as well as extensive shoreline along the Grand Lagoon. Among the park’s recreational activities are biking, boating and canoeing, fishing, hiking, picnicking, snorkeling, surfing and swimming. Open to tents and RVs up to 40 feet in length, the park’s 176 campsites are divided between two adjacent camping loops, both located near the Grand Lagoon. Each site has water, electricity, a picnic table and barbecue grill. Scattered throughout the camping loops are restrooms and showers. Campers also have access to a coin laundry.

    Campers Inn

    • Just steps from the beach, Campers Inn is about 4 miles southwest of the Navy base. The campground accommodates tents as well as RVs and also has 14 rental cabins, each of which can hold up to four people. Each of its nearly 100 RV sites has full hookups, including Wi-Fi and optional cable TV, and a paved patio area with a picnic table. Some shaded sites are available. Amenities include gated security, a recreation hall, general store, RV service center, an outdoor swimming pool, restrooms, showers, a coin laundry, children’s playground and a dump station.
