Thousand Oaks is in the heart of Southern California's Ventura County, approximately 30 minutes from surfing and swimming activities in the Pacific Ocean. This city is also less than an hour from attractions in Los Angeles.     • Thousand Oaks is a 30-minute drive from the Walnut RV Park in Northridge. This San Fernando Valley RV campground is also within walking distance from shopping opportunities at the Northridge Fashion Center mall and the Northridge Metrolink rail station. The RV park has a clubhouse for group gatherings; the clubhouse has a fully furnished kitchen and provides free Wi-Fi access. Other campground features include an outdoor pool, laundromat and shower facilities. Walnut RV Park has 112 RV sites with hook-ups for water, electricity and sewage, and offers cable television.

    Point Mugu State Park

    • The northern entrance of Point Mugu State Park is less than 30 minutes from Thousand Oaks. The northern entrance of the park is at the Satwiwa Native American Indian Culture Center, which features artifacts from the Satwiwa Native American tribe. This state park is in the heart of the Santa Monica Mountains and features more than 70 miles of trails for hiking, horseback riding and mountain biking. The park also has more than five miles of coastline along the Pacific Ocean. Photo opportunities are available at the rocky formations within the Boney Mountains State Wilderness Area. Point Mugu provides free Wi-Fi service.

    • Thousand Oaks is home to The Oaks, one of the largest shopping malls in Ventura County. Some of the stores and restaurants in this mall include Macy's, Nordstrom, Apple Store and Cheesecake Factory. Other malls in Thousand Oaks include the North Ranch Mall, which is within five minutes of Russell Park, and the Oakbrook Plaza, located in the city's Oakbrook neighborhood. After shopping at the Oakbrook Plaza, parents can take their children to the Flore Playfield, a park with playground and basketball courts.
