As more and more people take to the road to vacation in their RVs, campground and resorts are springing up all over the country, particularly in Florida, where RV enthusiasts can enjoy the warmth of a beach vacation at a fraction of the expense. West Palm Beach offers many levels of RV campgrounds from the simple and inexpensive to luxurious resort-style grounds with all the amenities.

      Vacation Inn Resort offers rental pads for RVs, and with resort-quality perks like tennis courts and two heated pools. The 35-foot-by-68-foot cement lots are surrounded by palm trees and floral landscaping with complete electrical hookups and a picnic table. The minimum rental period is one month, which includes cable TV, Wi-Fi and access to the same clubhouse and resort facilities enjoyed by those who own their spaces: sauna, steam, whirlpool, and pool exercise are free of charge. For the kids, there is a waterpark behind the RV resort, although the admission is not included in the rental fee. In 2010, monthly rates were $1,650 with discounts for longer stays if arrangements are made in advance. Rates are lower in the off-season, between May and September.

    Lion Country Safari RV Park

      Voted the President's and Founder's Award by Kampground of America, West Palm Beach/Lion Country Safari KOA RV campground is a unique experience. There are 211 RV sites right up against the 320-acre Lion Country Safari amusement park, each with a shaded pull-through, cement patio and picnic table. Other camp amenities include a gas-heated swimming pool, basketball court, kiddie playground, horseshoes, shuffleboard, laundry facilities and handicapped accessible bathrooms. Wireless and wired internet and telephone service is provided. The adjacent Lion Country Safari offers both drive-through and walk-through tours as well as food courts, shopping, several rides and a water sprayground. Prepare to be awakened by the lions roaring at night and the monkeys greeting the sunrise with noisy chatter. As of 2010, the nightly price was $50, which includes entrance to the park.

    Palm Beach RV Park

    • Camp in West Palm Beach for nearly nothing.

      Palm Beach RV Park is simple, plain, functional and cheap. There are 31 sites fairly close together, each with water hookups and outdoor tables. There are outdoor toilet facilities and pets are allowed. The camp has no website of its own, only a telephone for reservations, and rates in 2010 were $25 per night.
