The Ketchum, Idaho, area draws travelers to its RV campgrounds because it is a gateway to the Sun Valley Ski Resort and the Sawtooth Recreation Area. Visitors come to Ketchum for heli-skiing, river rafting on the Salmon River, hunting, fishing and hiking.
Wood River Campground is 10 miles from Ketchum, just past the Sawtooth National Recreation Area Headquarters. Wood River rents RV sites and permits one additional non-RV vehicle in each site. Activities available within the campground include biking, fishing and hiking. Wood River offers garbage service, but no wireless Internet or cable television. The picnic area can accommodate groups of up to 150 people, making it a popular spot for family reunions. The site is open from Memorial Day through Labor Day, and visitors can call ahead for reservations.

Smiley Creek is a year-round lodge that opens its RV accommodations to travelers for daily, weekly and monthly stays between May 20 and October 4. RV sites offer full hookups or electric-only hookups. Park guests have access to the lodge's laundry and shower facilities. Smiley Creek's full-service restaurant is open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. through the summer. An on-site general store sells toiletries, groceries and other basic supplies. Located in the Sawtooth basin, Smiley Creek is near fishing rivers, lakes, and streams, as well as horseback riding and mountain biking trails.

West Magic Resort is one of the few Idaho sites to offer year-round RV access although water is available only during the warmer months and electric heaters are not permitted. Located less than an hour south of Ketchum, West Magic offers 28 full-hookup sites complete with high-speed Internet access and garbage service. Pets are welcome, provided they remain leashed while on resort property. The resort uses extensive recycling programs. Located lakeside, guests can enjoys boating and fishing in the summer and ice fishing in the winter. An on-site restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner from Wednesday through Sunday.
