Permafrost is ground that remains frozen for at least two consecutive years. It is found in cold regions of the world, such as the Arctic and Antarctic. Tropical forests are located near the equator, where temperatures are warm and humid. The ground in tropical forests does not freeze, so there is no permafrost.
