What types of rocks are in Arches National Park?

The rocks of Arches National Park were laid down as sediments approximately 225 to 300 million years ago under a shallow sea that occupied much of present day Utah. These sediments consist mainly of sandstone, such as the Entrada Sandstone, which can be seen in Delicate Arch and Landscape Arch. Other types of rocks in the park include limestone and dolomite.
