Decide which area of Indiana you want to visit. Northern Indiana has many lakes and relatively flat terrain. Central and southern Indiana are hillier and offer rugged terrain for hiking.
Consider lodging options. Though Indiana state parks are great for a day visit, most of them are very large and require a few days for visiting. All Indiana state parks offer camping (both tent and RV) and some, like Brown County State Park, even have their own hotels and cabins.
Use the Indiana State Park online reservation system found on the DRN website to book lodging or campsites. Especially in the warmer months and during holidays, the sites and rooms fill up quickly. Book your spot in advance.
Check the rules and regulations of each park before visiting. Many have restrictions on what can be brought in, and some do not allow pets.
