Choose a cottage if you have a family or a group. More than 500 cottages are available that sleep up to eight people. Cottages are good for those who want to prepare their own meals, or who may need more privacy than is available in hotel rooms. For those with disabilities, several of the parks offer accessible cottages with wider doors and ramps for wheelchairs, as well as specially adapted kitchens and restrooms. A few cottages are pet-friendly and a limited number of wood burning cottages are available as well.
Select a getaway rental if you prefer unusual accommodations. Getaway rentals include log cabins, RVs, yurts, cabents, and tepees. Keep in mind that yurts, cabents and tepees are all tent-like, or combination wood and fabric structures. The Ohio State Park website at Dnr.state.oh.us has descriptions of each type of accommodation. These various lodgings sleep up to six people.
Opt for a room in one of the nine Ohio State Park lodges if indoor-outdoor pools, golf courses and wireless Internet are your idea of a camping vacation. Each lodge also includes a lounge and a full-service dining room, while some offer business center services and convention facilities.
Get back to nature and camp under the stars. All state parks have campsite facilities that can accommodate parties of up to six, and most are open year-round. Campgrounds offer bathroom facilities and dumping stations, and individual campsites offer a fire-ring, picnic table and parking pad. Some parks offer rent-a-camps, which have campsites set up with tents, sleeping cots, cooking equipment and covered picnic tables.
