Pontiac Silverdome Restaurants

The Pontiac Silverdome has been part of Pontiac, Michigan's history since the mid-1970s. The Detroit Lions relocated to Ford Field in 2002 leaving the arena under-used. In 2009, Pontiac sold the arena for the sum of $583,000, a fraction of its construction cost of $55.7 million.     • O'Malley's Sports Pub (omalleysauburnhills.com), just a three-minute drive north of the Silverdome, is an Irish-themed sports bar and restaurant. Its decor includes historic beer signage and dark-wood walls. The menu includes classic Irish bar foods and twists on some international dishes. Sample menu items include Parmesan-encrusted chicken, salmon cakes, fish and chips, and large Reuben sandwiches. The restaurant is open seven days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

    O'Brien's Crabhouse

    • O'Brien's Crabhouse (obrienscrabhouse.com) located just a four-minute drive south of the Silverdome is a small seafood restaurant. It has an ocean theme including sailing memorabilia, pictures and a rustic decor. The restaurant specializes in crabs and shellfish offering a range of different crab choices such as snow, blue and king. Other menu items include baked scallops, perch piccata and frogs legs. The restaurant is open for lunch Monday to Friday and for dinner seven nights a week.

    Makimoto

    • Just a five-minute drive north of the Silverdome arena is the Makimoto Restaurant (makimotorestaurant.com). It is a sushi restaurant with a modern Japanese-themed decor. The restaurant's menu offers classic sushi dishes such as spicy tuna rolls, salmon rolls and scallop rolls. It also offers a range of hot Japanese entrees such as vegetable tempura, chicken teriyaki and seared ahi tuna with vegetables and a seaweed salad. The restaurant is open seven days a week, serving both lunch and dinner.

    Grand Tavern

    • Just nine minutes east of the Silverdome arena is the Grand Tavern (grandtavernrochesterhills.com). It is a sports bar and restaurant with redwood paneled walls and multiple big screen TVs for live sporting events. The menu offers quality versions of bar food classics with a wide range of entrees, burgers and sandwiches. Sample menu items include barbecue salmon, bourbon-glazed pork chops, Philly cheese steak sandwiches and the inferno burger with hot chilies, Tabasco and pepper jack cheese.
