Southeastern Connecticut Restaurants

The southeastern portion of Connecticut plays host to such cities as Mystic and Norwich. The area features a wide variety of restaurants, ranging from high-end dining experiences to casual eateries. With some southeastern cities bordering Long Island Sound, as well as various rivers and tributaries, many restaurants in the region offer fresh seafood fare.
  1. Abbott's Lobster In the Rough

    • Abbott's Lobster In the Rough sits in Noank, Connecticut, a coastal village located just two and a half miles southwest of Mystic. Housed within a modest shack, the establishment offers picnic tables with waterfront views. Standard seafood fare includes clam chowder, steamed mussels and hot lobster rolls with melted butter. Although the restaurant does not feature its own liquor license, diners may bring their own wine or beer. Abbott's remains closed during the winter. Operations typically resume on the weekends throughout the fall and spring and seven days a week from June through August.

    Kitchen Little

    • Located in Mystic, Kitchen Little offers a tiny interior, totaling no more than 400 square feet. Housed within a small bright blue shack, the cramped and casual setting includes both counter and table seating. The all-day breakfast menu includes a wide sampling of hearty items, such as broccoli and mushroom scrambles, pancake sandwiches with ham and eggs and a variety of omelets and eggs benedict selections. The restaurant also features waterfront views while dining upon its seasonal outdoor garden patio. The summer tourist season brings large crowds and long waits.

    Shrine

    • Situated within the MGM Grand Tower in the Foxwoods Casino, Shrine offers a restaurant, lounge and nightclub setting. The restaurant features a high-end interior complete with hanging lantern light fixtures, hardwood floors, brick walls, candlelight and intimate alcove seating. The Pan-Asian menu offers such varied selections as dumplings, spring rolls, sashimi plates and sushi rolls. The first floor contains a dance floor and bar, equipped with a limited menu. The main dining hall sits on the second floor and features a balcony with views of the nightclub below.

    Todd English's Tuscany

    • Todd English's Tuscany sits within Uncasville's Mohegan Sun Hotel and Casino, approximately 10 miles south of Norwich. Positioned behind a 55-foot tall indoor waterfall, Taughannick Falls, the restaurant features an upscale, grotto-like interior outfitted with rock covered walls, rustic chandeliers, hardwood tables and white linen napkins. The menu features a variety of Tuscan dishes, including such items as fresh gnocchi and thin crust pizza, as well as a pasta bar. Reserve the private room for a special function or the chef's table for an intimate dining experience. The casino's attached garage parking lot offers ample spaces.
