Canton is a small city in Connecticut that is home to a fair share of restaurants. While some of those restaurants are fast food chains, there are many locally owned establishments serving up a variety of different cuisines. After a day of visiting the Canton Historic Museum or heading out on the river in a rented kayak or canoe, these restaurants offer much-needed food and relaxation.
The Village Café & Bistro serves breakfast and lunch every day,; it also serves dinner on Friday and Saturday nights. An eclectic variety of wines and beers are also served, and the restaurant has a catering option for groups of up to 300 people, in or out of the establishment. The breakfast menu consists of pancakes, country white French toast, Philly steak omelets, lobster omelets, farmers wraps, and seven varieties of poached egg plates using fresh organic eggs. The lunch menu--which is also served during the dinner hours--has appetizers that include pan-seared crab cakes and quesadillas. Lunch entrees consist of fish and chips; pulled pork sandwiches; a number of ½-pound burgers; and the almost famous roasted turkey and brie sandwich. Dinner specials include braised beef "short" ribs, herb crusted North Atlantic salmon, garlic and herb marinated pork tenderloins, and pan-roasted ahi tuna steak with Cajun shrimp.
