Temperatures in Tuscany, Italy

Tuscany is located in the central, Western region of Italy, north of Rome and south of Genoa. It has a Mediterranean climate, with long, hot summers and short, mild winters. With its fine art, famous cuisine and wine, countryside and seacoast, Tuscany is a popular tourist destination. According to Choose-Tuscany, "The best time to visit Italy and Tuscany for holidays is the quieter part of the season, from April to June and from September to October, when the weather is usually good, the prices are lower and there are fewer tourists."

    • Winter in Tuscany can be cold and wet, but also has plenty of sunny, mild days. It can get very cold at night, especially in the hilly areas. January is the coldest month and the temperature in the mountains can get below freezing. The average winter temperature in Tuscany is approximately 50 degrees F.

    Spring

    • Spring in Tuscany has dry, sunny days, but the chances of rain are high and spring can be one of the wetter periods of the year. The average temperature is between 65 and 75 degrees F.

    Summer

    • Summer in Tuscany is very hot with high humidity levels. It is sunny with very little rain. The average temperature varies between 80 and 90 degrees F and can reach 100 degrees. In the valleys and on the coast, the summers are hotter than in the hills, where there is more rain. July is the warmest month of the year throughout the region.

    Autumn

    • A favorite time for tourists to visit Tuscany, is autumn when the average temperatures range from 70 to 75 degrees F. September remains hot and the weather continues to be warm until the end of October or even the beginning of November.
