Things to Do in Ohio at Night

Affectionately dubbed as the "Buckeye State" because of its many buckeye trees, Ohio is the seventh most populous state in the country. While most of the state's residents reside in Columbus, Cleveland and Cincinnati, there are a variety of sights and sounds to behold in Ohio's smaller cities like Dayton. Ohio features natural attractions to visit by day like the Geroux Herb Gardens in Gahanna and sports events like Cincinnati Reds baseball games. But, at night, Ohio's cities come to life with scenic boat rides, theatrical events and attractions for food lovers.
  1. Boat Ride

    • If you're in or nearby Cincinnati, consider taking a boat ride down the Ohio River at night. A nighttime ride along the river offers scenic views of the city's skyline, as well as entertainment aboard the boat. BB River Boats has a Dixieland Jazz Cruise which kicks off at night and includes a live jazz band and buffet dinner. Passengers not interested in dining can opt for a sightseeing only ticket. Tickets range from about $25 to $35 with dinner, and $14 to $30 without.

    Columbus Food Adventures

    • For those in Columbus, Ohio who enjoy experiencing different types of foods, the Columbus Food Adventures are a must. While food tours of the city's historic arts district, Short North, are available by day, an inside look into Columbus's west side taco truck scene is available at night. During the Taco Truck Tour, guests hop into an air-conditioned van and head to the city's top taco truck spots. They sample Mexican food and drinks from five different trucks, learn about the different items the trucks sell and all about taco truck ordering lingo while there.

The tour costs $55, and tickets can be ordered on the company's site. All taco truck tastings are included in that price.

    Mayhem and Mystery Dinner Theater

    • When you're in Dayton, try to check out the Mayhem and Mystery Dinner Theater. This interactive theater experience features comfort foods like 15 layer lasagna and a full show for just $24. During the performance, held at the Spaghetti Warehouse Italian Grill, audience members are chosen to play minor characters and help solve the mystery at hand. Actors in the plays also walk out into the audience to keep the audience engaged as well. Prizes are given out at the end of the show to those who've solved or helped solve the underlying mystery.
