Indian Restaurants in Paris

Being one of the most well-known exports from the country, Indian cuisine has spread to almost every corner of the globe. Paris, the capital of France, is no exception. The city is dotted with quite a few classy Indian restaurants, serving delectable dishes on the menu that cater to a plethora of tastes.

  1. Annapurna Restaurant

    • Located in the traditionally chic 8th arrondissement in the French capital, the Annapurna Restaurant is the oldest of its kind in the city. Just a stone's throw away from the famous landmark Georges V Hotel, this eatery has wowed Indian food lovers and many celebrities with its delicious food. Within the luxurious Indian-style interiors, replete with ornate fabric, brilliant colors and exquisite designs, you get to eat at low-height tables, in true subcontinent style. As the lovely music of a live sitar performance floats into your ears, establishing a true Indian ambiance, your dinner table holds promise of such Indian delicacies as curries, naans, samosas and tandoor dishes---all tempered with subtle spices, not too hot for non-Indian taste buds. The wine list at the restaurant greatly compliments the menu, making Annapurna a Parisian favorite. The signature dish is Gambas tandoori while the varieties of biryani are tasty as well. Although the restaurant can be a vegetarian's food heaven, it also keeps provisions for halal meat choices.

    Krishna Bhavan

    • Krishna Bhavan is situated at the hub of the Sri Lankan and Indian zone of Paris, bordered by the Rue Louis Blanc, Rue Cail and Rue Perdonnet. Close to the La Chapelle Metro stop, it is one of the best places for delicious Indian vegetarian cuisine, served at some of the most cost effective rates in the city. While the majority of Indian eateries in Paris are known for their north Indian- or Pakistani-flavored dishes, Krishna Bhavan serves up delectable cuisine from southern India, as well as from Sri Lanka. Dosas (long crepes with vegetables), the signature thalis (which come with rice, vegetables and sauces) and lassi (yogurt shake) make Krishna Bhavan special. The informal ambiance in the small restaurant makes it a pleasure to have a meal there.

    Ganesha Restaurant

    • The best feature of this quaint Indian Rue Perdonne joint, located at a short distance from the train stop of Gare du Nord in the La Chapelle neighborhood, is its value-for-money fare. From its exhaustive Indian and Sri Lankan menu, the rotis, biryani, fish curry and bhajis make a good combo-meal. Even the wine is reasonably priced at this busy, no-frills joint.
