From large community parks to more intimate options, a handful of RV parks greet visitors looking to enjoy the warm breezes of the Gulf of Mexico, sandy beaches, water sports and nature trails that South Padre Island has to offer.
Andy Bowie County Park is at the northern end of the city, just off the Gulf, and the smallest of South Padre Island’s RV parks. Twenty-four full hookup sites are offered with nightly, weekly and monthly rates. Guests have access to shower facilities, beachfront picnic areas, a playground and a concession stand. Wi-Fi is available for an additional fee. The beach is a short walk over the dunes. Only a half-mile from the main campground, the South Padre Island Birding and Nature Center provides an opportunity to learn more about the birds and wildlife of the region.
Isla Blanca Park is on the southern end of South Padre Island and known for its mile-long white, sandy beach and waterfront activities. The park has 534 full hookup sites, many of which are pull-through sites that can accommodate big rigs with wide slide-outs. Cable TV connections and free Wi-Fi are available throughout the park. Sites are paved, level and easy walking distance to the beach. In addition to its proximity to the Gulf, this campground is also close to the Schlitterbahn water park.
The South Padre Island KOA is just south of the causeway, between Laguna Madre Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. Pull-through sites are available up to 98 feet long and full hookups are provided on all 211 lots. Amenities include a pool, hot tub, sauna, snack bar, pet playground and restaurant. A recreation hall features a full kitchen, fitness room, ping pong, large-screen television and games. The KOA hosts community activities such as fitness classes, sunset socials, hoedowns and holiday potlucks.
Two additional RV park options are just across the Queen Isabella Causeway in Port Isabel. Tarpon RV Park and Marina is an adults-only park with 40 lots for RVs and 20 accessible boat slips. Each lot has electric, sewer and water hookups, as well as access to cable TV and phone. Port Isabel Park Center RV Park has 200 full hookup sites and also allows for tent and pop-up camping. Both parks invite travelers to enjoy clubhouse facilities, bring pets and have access to fishing piers.
