How to Travel Economically when Visiting Paris France

Traveling to the City of Lights is exciting and very romantic….but not cheap. Traveling can get quite pricey with the cost of the airplane ticket, and hotel and dining on the euro. Here are some cost-effective ways to save some pennies while visiting Paris.

Instructions

Paris offers a bunch of decent, fairly priced hotels that are affordable. Look for package deals. See Resources below.

    • 2

Exchange some dollars into local currency before you leave so you'll have spending money when in Paris. Conversion rates can be high–-especially at hotels. Find exchange places in town (there are tons) and compare their rates. Go with the one that has the best daily rate so you'll get more for your buck.

    • 3

While Paris is a walking city, it's best to get a metro card (subway) for when you need to get around quickly and conveniently. Instead of purchasing single-ride tickets, invest in either a day pass, multi-day or weekly pass, depending on your length of stay.

For lunch, eat cheaply by buying baguette sandwiches on the go at small cafes and eat while you sightsee rather than sitting at a pricey restaurant. Save your money for other things.

    • 5

Purchase a calling card and use pay phones rather than your cell phone since the calling rate per minute is very expensive in Europe. Avoid using your cell phone unless absolutely necessary.
