How to Travel to Canada

Canada has millions of visitors every year. The large metropolitan areas in the eastern part of Canada give tourists a taste of the city while the wide open spaces and mountains to the west give tourists the chance to enjoy nature. Knowing some Canadian tax laws and a few other simple steps can make travel to Canada an enjoyable experience.

Get a Goods and Services Tax refund. A 7 percent GST tax is added to most transactions in Canada. Tourists can get a refund on purchases they take out of Canada. They also can get a refund on short-term accommodations which last less than a month. Submit rebate forms within 60 days of leaving Canada. The forms may be obtained from certain stores, customs officials, duty-free shops or from the Canada Customs and Review Agency.
