Florida is recognized for having one of the largest and most diversified state park systems in the country. Visitors can discover Florida's natural history in a dazzling diversity of locales, from canoeing the Loxahatchee River to camping in the Everglades and from underwater diving tours in the Keys to walking the nature trails in Bahia Honda State Park.
The pristine white sand beaches and the azure waters of the Florida coast provide endless possibilities for recreational activities. Swimming, diving, windsurfing, sailing, volleyball and parasailing are just a few of the activities available year-round.
Major tourist activities include Disney's assorted theme parks, including EPCOT Center and Animal Kingdom; SeaWorld Orlando; and Universal Studios Florida. Kennedy Space Center is a short trip from Orlando and provides guided tours that include a shuttle-launch simulator.
Environmentally sensitive tours are also available throughout the state, including canoe, kayak and walking tours of the vast natural preserves such as the Everglades. Key Largo offers guided one-hour swims with the always graceful and intelligent dolphins.
Florida is home to a large number of museums. The range of exhibits is nearly limitless and includes Native American art and culture at The Indian Temple Mound and Museum in Fort Walton, fine arts and crafts throughout the state, and the Sarasota Ringling Museum, with its lighthearted display of circus memorabilia.
