Get inspired. Although some wouldn’t think the Oklahoma city would, Tulsa has a blooming arts scene. Walk through the Gilcrease Museum to see Native American and historic American art, the Philbrook Museum of Art, the Tulsa Air and Space Museum, the Sherwin Miller Museum of Jewish Art and Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame. Find local and general art at one of the area shops or at an arts festival. Churches and other buildings in Downtown Tulsa are also a work of art on their own.
Visit giant landmarks. Check out the giant oil driller on 4609 East 21st Street in Tulsa to see the 76-foot high Golden Driller at Expo Square. Get out to sit on him and take a picture with him too. Big Splash Water Park, the Tulsa Drillers baseball stadium and several restaurants and shops are nearby. The praying hands at Oral Roberts University is also an interesting site.
Drive down Route 66. Buy some Route 66 memorabilia, grab a bite to eat or simply drive along the historic road that runs through part of Tulsa.
Join everyone at Utica Square. Find most young professionals and locals at this popular area of Tulsa, where there are several shops, restaurants and outdoor life for most any price point. Find more restaurants, shops and entertainment along nearby Cherry Street.
See some animals. Adults and children alike will enjoy the Tulsa Zoo and Living Museum, home to penguins, lions, birds and other exotic animals. View a large number of sharks and other aquatic animals at the Oklahoma Aquarium, located in nearby Jenks.
Catch a concert. At various times throughout the year, Tulsa is home to various music and arts festivals, like Mayfest. Music lovers also can catch a musical performance at places like The Blank Slate, Cain’s Ballroom or an outside patio. For more classic or sophisticated tastes, hear the Tulsa Opera, the Signature Symphony or the Tulsa Symphony.
Enjoy the Midwest from outside. Have a picnic, smell the flowers or bask in the sunlight at one of Tulsa’s many parks or outdoor areas, such as River Trails along the Arkansas River.
Root for the home team at a Tulsa sporting event. Aside from the Tulsa Drillers baseball team, see the Tulsa Oilers hockey team, the Tulsa Talons arena football team or the Tulsa 66ers basketball team, in addition to sports teams at area colleges like Oral Roberts University and the University of Tulsa.
