Travel south to the Kancamangus Highway (Route 112). Follow the Kancamangus through the heart of the White Mountains. Stop at one of the many overlooks for a great autumn photo op.
Head north at the junction of the Kancamangus and Route 3, to Clark's Trading Post. Visit the live bear act and take a ride on the old wood-fire steam engine.
Continue north along Route 3 until it junctions with Route 302. Travel east on 302 until you reach Bretton Woods. Stay the night at the magnificent Mount Washington Hotel, and enjoy a 4-course dinner in their beautiful dining room.
Follow Route 2 east from New Hampshire to Western Maine. Enjoy the uncrowded roads and beautiful mountain views.
