The Best Disney Rides for Three-Year-Old Boys

If Disney princesses and fairies are not your little boy's cup of tea, no worries. Buzz Lightyear and Captain Jack Sparrow are here to save the day. Children of all ages flock to the Disney resorts in Florida and California, but each theme park is filled with shows, play areas and rides specifically for preschoolers and their families to enjoy. The Disney resorts have even dedicated a special time each year to toddlers and preschoolers called Disney's Magical Beginnings. From mid-August through September, guests can embark on adventures just for little guests. Visit disneymagicalbeginnings.com for guide maps and information on this event.
  1. Magic Kingdom

    • The Magic Kingdom in Orlando, Florida, is home to some of the biggest rides a little tyke could imagine. Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin in Tomorrowland transports your junior space ranger through space as he seeks out battery-powered fun. Fantasyland is home to toddler favorites like Peter Pan's Flight, It's a Small World, Dumbo the Flying Elephant and The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. A pirate's life awaits you in the Pirates of the Caribbean boating adventure, which has been updated to include Captain Jack Sparrow. Adventure-seeking boys will also enjoy The Magic Carpets of Aladdin and the classic Jungle Cruise boat ride.

    Epcot

    • Epcot in Orlando, Florida, now includes attractions for preschoolers. At The Living Seas with Nemo and Friends, you and your little boy ride on clam shells through Epcot's aquarium and are visited by familiar faces from the Disney Pixar film "Finding Nemo." Cap off your undersea voyage with Turtle Talk with Crush. The Journey into Imagination has a fun-filled ride and indoor play area just for kids.

In the Mexico Pavilion in the World Showcase, the three caballeros, Donald, Jose and Panchito, treat guests to a boat ride exploring the wonders of Mexico. If your little man is brave, head to the Norway Pavilion and ride the Maelstrom, a boat that journeys through Norway's Viking History. Timid toddlers may find the darkness and rough waters a bit too intense.

    Disney's Hollywood Studios

    • At Disney's Hollywood Studios in Orlando, Florida, go to Pixar Place and ride Toy Story Mania, an interactive, 3-D midway extravaganza. This ride is popular with kids of all ages and long lines form early. The Honey, I Shrunk the Kids Movie Set Adventure instantly shrinks kids, and their parents, to the size of ants, or at least it will seem that way. This play area is filled with larger-than- life blades of grass, caverns and oversized Lego blocks. Tots climb and crawl in this oversized, soft-surface play land. Playhouse Disney--Live on Stage and Muppet Vision 3-D provide tot-friendly thrills and adventure.

    Animal Kingdom

    • Safari adventures, dinosaur digs and wildlife fun await toddlers at Disney's Animal Kingdom in Orlando, Florida. Kilimanjaro Safaris in Africa provide an up-close view of zebras, gazelles warthogs and more. Some animals may approach vehicles, or even block the dirt paths as they graze. Drivers do not disturb any animal in the path, so patience may be needed. Dangerous animals like lions and cheetahs are kept at safe distance from park guests. The Triceratop Spin in Chester and Hester's Dino-Rama! is perfect for a thrill-seeking 3-year-old.

Disneyland Resort and California Adventure Park

    • Disneyland offers many of the same toddler-pleasing rides as Florida's Magic Kingdom, such as Peter Pan's Flight, Pirates of the Caribbean, It's a Small World and The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. However, several toddler rides can only to be found in Disneyland and California Adventure Park. Check out Heimlich's Chew Chew Train. And the Alice in Wonderland ride is not just for girls; boys will like the crazy antics of the Cheshire Cat and the Queen of Hearts. However, the Alice in Wonderland ride may frighten toddlers who are afraid of the dark. Three year-old boys will also love the Casey Jr. Circus Train, Flik's Flyers, Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin and the Storybook Land Canal Boats.
