Cypress Gardens opened in 1936. It was owned and operated by Dick and Julie Pope. They turned it over to their son, Dick Pope Jr., in 1962.
Cypress Gardens was known for its water shows and many movies were filmed there. It also featured gardens, rides and other attractions.
Cypress Gardens closed in September 2009. The current owner wanted to save the park by selling it to another company, but there were no definite plans.
