Things to Do Along Rt. 41 in Indiana

Route 41 runs north and south along the west side of Indiana. It enters the state in the south at Evansville, heads through Rockville and Terre Haute before hitting the south side of Chicago, Illinois. Even though Route 41 travels through rural areas, you can still find interesting things to do along the way.
  1. Wicker Park Golf Course

    • Wicker Memorial Park is an 18-hole golf course to help you relax on your way to your destination. You can warm up on the practice green and stop at the Pro Shop to pick up golfing equipment if you left yours at home. You can also grab a drink at the bar located at the Pro Shop. The park offers a par 72 course. According to the Wicker Memorial Park article "Golf Course," the golf course offers some of the most competitive and lowest rates in the area. The golf course is open from mid-April to the end of October.

    Warrick County Museum

    • Warrick County Museum shows you the history of the County. You can learn about the historical events that have influenced Warrick County. In addition, the museum has events that you can go to if you are in the area, including a Christmas Bazaar for the holidays and a Chili Cook-off in October.

    White Horse Cafe

    • The White Horse Cafe is between Terre Haute and Lafayette. You should refuel yourself at some point along your journey and you may as well eat at a down-to-earth country restaurant. A meal at White Horse Cafe shows you about life during the time of cowboys and cattle drives. Some of the meals include the Pork Tenderloin Sandwich, Ribeye Sandwich and the Big Dewey Tenderloin. In addition, try the Wagon Wheel sampler appetizer.

    10 O'Clock Line

    • You can find the 10 O'Clock Line by stopping at a historical marker that memorializes the Indian reserve line of 1809 near Rockville, Indiana. The marker is located near the Bridgeton Covered Bridge. The Indian reserve line actually stretches from the entrance of Big Raccoon Creek to the Ohio border line. The 10 O'Clock Line is also known as the Treaty of Fort Wayne, which obtained around 3 million acres of Native American land for the settlers.

    Uncle John's Flea Market

    • Stop a few minutes outside of Route 41 to do some shopping. You can find a variety of goods because there are 200 indoor and outdoor vendors who set up their sales centers at this stop in rural Indiana. Uncle John's Flea Market is located outside of the city of St. Johns in Cedar Lake and is open on Saturdays and Sundays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Uncle John's Flea Market is open year round so stop by to pick up a trinket to remember Indiana by.
