Minnesota Horse Expo, sponsored by the Minnesota Horse Council, takes place over three days every April. The expo shows an average of 300 horses of numerous breeds, with presentations and demonstrations of specific breeds. The Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association presents a seven-competition rodeo at Warner Coliseum. Vendors offering equine products and services set up booths throughout the buildings and along the street. Visitors can take tours of the University of Minnesota Equine Center. Parking is free in State Fair lots. Admission to the 2010 event was $9 for adults, with discounts for children and seniors. Admission to the rodeo cost $4 to $10.
Over 150 vendors make up The Star of the North Antique Show & Sale, held twice a year in the Education Building. The event is presented by Iridescent House Inc. and Townsend Shows. Antiques and collectibles on hand include dolls, pottery, collectible glass and furniture. Jewelry appraisal is available for one day of the event. At the 2010 show, a one-time fee of $6 covered admission every day of the event.. Discount coupons, available on the festival's website (see Resources), reduced the price to $5.
The Viking Chapter of the Antique Motorcycle Club of America Inc. organizes a Motorcycle Swap Meet once a year at the north parking lot of the fairgrounds. Riders from across the state come to buy and sell current and classic models. Prominent brands such as Harley-Davidson are offered. Vendors bring a large assortment of motorcycles and motorcycle-related parts as well as other branded items. Admission to the 2010 event was $5 for the day.
St. Paul Craftstravaganza is an annual day-long festival at the Fine Arts Center that highlights current works by local artists and crafters. The event emphasizes crafts with modern style and original artwork. Giveaways of items such as gift bags go on throughout the day. Workshops are presented with the latest crafting and art techniques. Area bands provide concerts for festival goers. Admission to the 2010 festival was free.
