Wisconsin is one of the biggest cranberry producers in the country. In Warrens every September, the town comes alive to celebrate this fruit. Throughout Warrens, you can taste various products made with cranberries, explore the growing process and even participate in cooking contests. The Wisconsin State Fair is held the first week of August in West Allis. This event salutes agriculture in Wisconsin and the talents of many residents. As the Dairy State, Wisconsin takes pride in its livestock and produce and here you can taste the finest products in one location. Not only can you eat your way through the fair, but you can visit and pet the best livestock in the state. Fair rides are available in the Midway and many demonstrations are housed in the exhibition buildings. Free entry is available on selected days.
From May through November, farmers from around the area meet at the state capitol in Madison to sell locally grown produce. This farmers market is the largest in the state and runs every Saturday. The market is so large it takes an entire day to walk the whole thing. After eating your way through the market, you can visit the State Capitol for a free tour or stop on State Street to visit the specialty shops.
