Things to Do in Los Angeles in April

Los Angeles is Spanish for "The Angels" and is the second largest city in the country. There are various concerts, games, events and festivals held in the city throughout the year, and the month of April offers residents and tourists an opportunity to celebrate their heritage and explore areas of interest.
  1. LA Times Festival of Books

    • The LA Times Festival of Books is held each April during the third or fourth weekend. The festival brings in approximately 450 authors and 300 exhibitors to the University of Southern California's campus. The two-day event features author signings, literary panels and readings. The festival started in 1996 and brings in between 130,000 to 140,000 adults and children each year. Genres available include poetry, graphic novel, young adult, mystery, comic books and more.

    Los Angeles Antiques Show

    • The Los Angeles Antiques Show is organized by the Antiques Dealers Association of California and is held at the end of April each year. In 2010, the event was located at the Santa Monica Air Center and admission was $20. Opening night is an invitation only event that plays hosts to some of Los Angeles' prominent artists, designers and architects. Exhibitors come from all over the world to present at this four-day event. Past exhibitors include Joel Cooner Gallery, R.M. Barokh Antiques, Daniels Antiques, Didier Antiques and Doris Leslie Blau.

    Fiesta Broadway

    • The Fiesta Broadway festival occurs during the last Sunday in April and is the largest Cinco de Mayo celebration in the world. This annual street celebrated its 21st anniversary in 2010, and the party covers 24 square blocks in downtown Los Angeles. Over 500,000 individuals attend the event each year, and customers can eat various foods from the vendor stands and listen to performers.
