Things to Do on the Weekend in Los Angeles

With beautiful beaches, extraordinary music venues and world-famous landmarks, Los Angeles offers more to do on any given weekend than two full days could possibly allow. As the California sun typically permits, most activities are found outdoors for an experience that only this city can boast.
  1. Flea Markets

    • On the second Sunday of every month, Pasadena hosts the Rose Bowl Flea Market where thousands of vendors set up shop to sell everything from vintage clothing to crystal chandeliers and modern art. For a small general admission fee, fashionistas and furniture collectors start flowing in at 9 a.m. to walk through the perimeter of the Rose Bowl for hours. If you happen to miss that second Sunday, the Fairfax Flea Market takes place every Sunday in West Hollywood and offers similar treasures and one-of-a-kind finds.

Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica

    • One of the best shopping destinations in Los Angeles, the Third Street Promenade, is a street lined with H&M, Armani Exchange, Apple, AMC Theatres, and many other retailers. Popular among locals and tourists, the Promenade is a great outdoor space for shopping, dining, and enjoying the mild climate. Along the Promenade, street entertainers and artists are often singing or dancing in performances that are worth taking a break for. Best of all, it is just several blocks east of the Santa Monica Pier and Beach.

Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA)

    • Housing more than 150,000 works of art, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) is LA's gateway to vast collections and exhibitions spanning from the ancient times to the present. This seven-building museum is the largest in the western United States, with planned renovations that will continue to expand this cultural landmark. The collection includes works by Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat and Diego Rivera, and is open from 11a.m. till 8 p.m. on weekends. Visitors will enjoy walking through the galleries and taking in the visual splendors that hang on the walls, lay on the floors, and occupy the space of this public museum.
