Tourism Near Chicago

Tourists have a galaxy of investigative, educational and expansive things to do in the Windy City. Before you go, come up with a specific touring plan because there is so much to see, do and enjoy.
  1. Zoo

    • Chicago's Lincoln Park Zoo is open every day and admission is free. Animals are in structures as close to natural environments as possible, and the zoo is also famous for its its historical and architectural offerings. Featured extras, although they do require a small fee, are the Endangered Species Carousel ride, the LPZOO Express train ride, a 4-D virtual safari simulator and a safari audio tour.

    Botanic Garden

    • The Chicago Botanic Garden has 385 acres with 24 gardens and several natural walking areas, and sits on nine islands in full view of their surrounding lakes. It also has a conservation and science center as well as many other educational facilities. Flower and horticultural shows are also common.

    Pier

    • Guests can ride on a Ferris wheel in all seasons, take sightseeing cruises and shop at The Navy Pier on the lakefront. Museums are also featured, two for children, one with a fun-house theme and the other about toys. Theater, festival and amusement park options are included in the pier highlights, along with many other recreational events.
