For four days through the month of July, Oswego celebrates its Harborfest Festival. During this extravaganza, visitors can enjoy great entertainment and exciting events. Harborfest began 22 years ago as a small local festival and has grown to be one of the largest festivals in the state. The fireworks display is choreographed to music and is one of the seven presentations of this sort in the Northeast. Musical groups such as Three Dog Night, Kansas, Eddie Money and KC & The Sunshine Band have all been a part of this awesome weekend party. Another event that is held in the harbor of Oswego is the Festival of Sail held for three days at the end of June. During this period, three tall sailing ships, the Pride of Baltimore II, the Lynx, and the Unicorn, sail into the harbor on their way through the Great Lakes. Ninety-minute excursions on the Lynx are available for a small fee, and during the weekend, they re-create a cannon fight between the ships and Fort Ontario. After the ships leave Oswego, they set sail again for a four-day extravaganza in Toronto.
