French Lick & West Baden Tourism

French Lick and West Baden are two small towns in southern Indiana's Orange County. While Indianapolis is better known to tourists looking to visit the state, there are plenty of things to do in these two towns.
  1. French Lick Resort

    • The 3,000-acre resort includes the French Lick Resort Casino, a 51,000-square foot Vegas-style gaming facility, and two luxury hotels--the West Baden Springs Hotel and the French Lick Springs Hotel. There are also three golf courses. The Pete Dye Indiana Golf Course was selected to host the 2010 PGA Professionals National Championship.

    Indiana Railway Museum

    • The museum, located in French Lick, features pieces of locomotives and other railroad-related memorabilia. It also offers a 20-mile round-trip train ride through the Hoosier National Forest and the 2,200-foot Burton Tunnel.

    Hoosier National Forest

    • The 200,000-acre forest has trails and rolling hills, making it perfect for hiking, horseback riding and mountain biking.

    Log Cabin

    • A Big Log Cabin in the Clouds is a restored 1863 log cabin on 120 acres of managed woodland habitat and tall-grass prairie. Guests can hike on private trails and see wildlife, including bald eagles.

    Air Access

    • The French Lick Municipal Airport accepts charter, corporate, private and small commercial flights. For bigger commercial flights, the Louisville International Airport and the Evansville Regional Airport are both 1 ½ hours away. Indianapolis International Airport is 2 ½ hours away.

    Famous Ties

    • NBA Hall of Famer Larry Bird is from French Lick. He received a nickname as "a Hick from French Lick."
