Despite the recession, domestic tourism has been increasing significantly due to active promotional campaigns about visitor attractions and culture by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism.
Over 95 percent of Tanzania's 950,000 annual tourists visit wildlife areas. Tanzania Invest reports that Tanzanian President Jakaya Kikwete has said that the country must develop its coastline and beaches to attract more tourists to that area.
