Dallas is one of Texas's largest and most important cities. Founded in the 1800s, Dallas boasts more than 6 million people in its metropolitan area, widely known as the Dallas Metroplex. Tourists flock to Dallas for the many activities and attractions that it offers.
  1. Theme Parks

    • The Dallas area is known for its plethora of amusement parks. Six Flags over Texas, one of the many Six Flag theme parks, is one of the most exciting parks in Texas. Taking up more than 212 acres, Six Flags over Texas has more than 13 roller coasters and thrill rides, a large family-centered area with rides enjoyable for the whole family and more than 30 rides just for kids. Six Flags Hurricane Harbor is one of Texas's largest water parks. Hurricane Harbor manages to offer a family-friendly environment while still offering some rides that are sure to thrill the biggest adrenalin junkie. It's a must-see for visitors to Dallas.

    Museums

    • Dallas is home to many fascinating and important museums. Tourists from all over the world take advantage of the great museums and exhibits. The Sixth Floor Museum chronicles the assassination of JFK from the warehouse where the shot that killed the president was fired. The tours are self-guided, and the museum is located on the sixth and seventh floors. Since its inception in 1989, more than 6 million tourists have visited the museum. One of the most popular museums is the Museum of Natural Science. The museum offers exhibits that include a planetarium, an IMAX theatre, Spying (A Spy Exhibit), Dinosaurs and exhibits educating tourists about Texas's natural habitat.     Parks

    • Dallas is fortunate to have a mild year-round temperature. The average high temperature during winter is around 70 degrees F. Because of the climate, Dallas has many parks throughout the city that are open year-round. The Dallas Arboretum is a botanical park with tree-lined walkways, flower gardens and water works. White Rock Lake Park is a 1,015-acre park. Hiking and bike trails, picnic areas, bird watching and camp sites make this park a popular destination, full of activities for tourists. The Dallas Zoo is one of Texas's most popular attractions. With exhibits ranging from Wilds of Africa to Zoo North, exploring this zoo is a favorite activity among tourists.
