One of the most unique activities for under 21s in Las Vegas is the "Trainer for a Day" program at the Dolphin Habitat at the Mirage hotel. The Dolphin Habitat is home to a family of Atlantic bottle-nosed dolphins. The "Trainer for a Day" program allows you to work side-by-side with the dolphin trainers. You even get to wear a wet suit and get in the pool with them. This fascinating experience comes at a hefty price--over $500 for the day-long program. Teenagers ages 13 to15 must be accompanied by an adult.
The Circus Circus hotel is home to the Adventure Dome, a 5-acre indoor theme park featuring a variety of rides, including a the world's only indoor double loop, double corkscrew roller coaster, a waterfall ride and laser tag. The emphasis is on thrill rides, so if roller coasters give you an adrenaline rush, this is the place for you. You can pay individually for each ride, or, if you plan on spending some time there, all-day passes are also available.
If the thrill rides at Adventure Dome don't satiate your appetite for speed, head over to the NASCAR Cafe Las Vegas Entertainment Center in the Sahara hotel.
Speed--The Ride is a state-of-the-art roller coaster that accelerates from a speed of 35 mph to 70 mph in a mere two seconds, while the Las Vegas Cyber Speedway is one of the most exciting and realistic simulated race-car attractions in the world. There's also a large arcade featuring 120 player stations and cutting-edge video games.
There is an admission fee for both of the rides. Combo passes and unlimited day passes are also available.
Outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy a hike in the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. Encompassing 197,000 acres and located a short drive outside the city, there are numerous hiking trails to choose from. Maps are available in the Visitors Center. If you visit during the spring, you'll be lucky enough to see desert wildflowers in bloom.
Located next to the MGM Grand, Game Works offers 47,000 square feet of entertainment, including 250 games in which you can compete against family and friends, win prizes, and test your gaming skills. It is also home to the tallest free-standing rock climbing structure in the world, a Coca Cola store, and an M&M factory.
The Fremont Street Experience is a true Las Vegas production, featuring a projection canopy screen that covers the length of five football fields and contains 12.5 million synchronized LED lights that can produce millions of colors. It is one of the most technologically advanced light and sound shows in the world and attracts approximately 20 million visitors a year. Shows begin nightly at dusk, and admission is free.
