What to Do Near SUNY Fredonia?

SUNY Fredonia is a liberal arts college located outside of Buffalo, NY in western New York State. SUNY is replete with activities on and off campus. With a little knowledge of activities in the immediate and surrounding areas, you will know what to do when spare time comes around.
  1. Aerobic, Wellness and Craft Center

    • The on-campus aerobic center is a Mecca for students desiring to exercise on free time. There are nearly 25 different aerobic classes each week. All classes are taught by experienced instructors and include staple classes such as: Cardio Kick, Super Step and body shaping. The Wellness Center is full service gym stocked with free weights, weight lifting machines, ellipticals and Nautilus equipment. Weekly craft projects are funded by the school and take place in the craft room on campus. The craft room is also open for people who bring materials for their own personal projects.

    Fredonia Reservoir

    • The Fredonia Reservoir is a dam/lake located in Fredonia, just miles from SUNY Fredonia. This location is perfect for outdoor excursions. The lake offers bountiful fishing opportunities, and the natural green space is perfect for picnics and outdoor sports. Lush, green forests surround the lake. Tourists take advantage of the many walking trails in the area.

    Niagara Falls State Park

    • Located about an hour from SUNY Fredonia is the world famous Niagara Falls State Park. Niagara Falls is one of the world's most recognizable attractions. If in the SUNY Fredonia area, a stop at this park is a must. The park includes the total U.S. territory of the falls, Three Sisters Island and an observation tower for better views of one of the world's crowning jewels. Other activities at Niagara Falls State Park includes boat tours and walking to the bottom of the falls on the Cave of the Winds tour. There is also an aquarium on site that contains species indigenous to the Niagara Falls area.

    Tour of the Fredonia Opera House

    • The Fredonia Opera House is a restored Victorian building located in downtown Fredonia. A tour of this majestic building is a popular activity, and the building hosts children plays, films and other various forms of entertainment. In June, the opera house is the site of a major baroque music festival.
