Maintained by the city’s parks and recreation department, Wichita Bend RV Park (wichitafallstx.gov) lies along the banks of the Wichita River within walking distance of downtown. Reserved exclusively for self-contained RVs, the park has more than two dozen sites, all with water and electricity. The campground has no restrooms, but it provides a dump station for RVs. Campers can cross the river on a swinging bridge to enter 178-acre Lucy Park, which has extensive recreational facilities, including a seasonal outdoor swimming pool, 1.7-mile hiking/biking trail, disc golf course, picnic areas, playgrounds, and basketball and volleyball courts. Lucy Park is the site of a man-made waterfall, created to replace the city’s namesake waterfall that was swept away in a flood more than a century ago.

The lake is actually a reservoir created by a dam on the Little Wichita River and supplies water to the city of Wichita Falls. Developed campsites in the park include more than four dozen with water and electricity and another 18 or so without utilities. Of the sites with utilities, four are reserved for use by equestrian campers. The park also has a walk-in primitive campground for group camping.
