Campgrounds Near Spring, Texas

Sitting between the Gulf Coast region and the prairies and lakes regions, Spring, Texas was once a German settlement that got caught in the growth of Houston. Its north neighbor, The Woodlands, was a planned community in 1972 which, in 2010, encompasses over 28,000 acres. Visitors can head north on Interstate 45 to Conroe, the Montgomery County seat, which is known as the birthplace of the Lone Star Flag. Conroe, 25 miles north of Spring, is home to Lake Conroe, a 22,000 acre recreational lake.

    • Located about 20 miles north of Houston off Interstate 45, Rayford Crossing RV Resort offers amenities and activities for both the young and old camper. Amenities featured at the resort include a fishing pond, a heated pool, playgrounds, a pet park and free DirecTV. The resort has fully furnished cabins for those campers who do not own a RV, as well as several types of sites for your motor home, travel trailer, fifth wheel or sports utility RV. Premium and deluxe RV sites have patio furniture and a gas grill. The resort provides special events each month and a list of events nearby. While staying at Rayford Crossing, visit the Woodlands Mall, located six miles north off Interstate 45. Splashtown Water Park is located six miles south of the resort, while Cypress Wood Golf Club is 13 miles southeast.

    Park on the Lake

    • Located 27 miles north of Spring on Lake Conroe, Park on the Lake has 100 camping sites available along the shoreline. The park offers RV and tent camping facilities as well as fishing piers, a swimming pool, baths, showers and playgrounds for the kids. Several other amenities available at Park on the Lake include a convenience store and a library. The park welcomes pets with no restrictions on the size or breed of dogs, however, while in the park, your dog must remain on a leash unless in the dog run. While staying at the park, book an appointment to visit the Saint Francis Wolf Sanctuary, located 23 miles west of the park. Play a round of golf at the Texas National Golf Club, located 8 miles east. Eat dinner away from the campground at the Los Cucos Mexican Cafe, which is 7 miles south of Park on the Lake.

    Cagle Campground - Sam Houston National Forest

    • Located 35 miles north of Spring off Interstate 45 in New Waverley, Cagle Campground sits right inside the 163,037 square miles of the Sam Houston National Forest, one of four national forests located in Texas. The campground consists of 45 combined RV and tent pads with hot showers and toilets. Cagle boasts a two-mile hike and bike path and sits on the east shore of Lake Conroe. A public boat ramp is available to launch your boat into the lake. Take some time away from the forest and take a lunch or buffet cruise on Lake Conroe with Southern Empress Cruises, located 25 miles southwest of the campground. Taste some Texas wines and specialty beers at Rancher's Daughter Winery, located 23 miles southwest. Dine at Waverly House restaurant for home-cooked pies and a home cooked meal, just 1 mile west of Cagle.
